S1476 — Homeowners' Insurance Premium Discounts

Senate Bill 1476 was filed to require residential property insurers to provide premium reductions for claim-free periods and mitigation improvements, and to prohibit use of storm-related claims to deny premium discount eligibility.

The bill would have required residential property insurers to offer specified premium reductions based on claim-free periods and completion of mitigation improvements. The bill prohibited the use of storm-related claims as a basis to deny eligibility for premium reductions and prohibited certain claims resulting from an act of God from being used to deny premium discount eligibility. The bill directed the Office of Insurance Regulation to adopt rules relating to mitigation upgrades.
