H1273 — Reciprocity or Endorsement of Licensure

House Bill 1273 was filed on January 5, 2024, to establish requirements for licensure by reciprocity and endorsement across multiple occupational and health care regulatory boards in Florida.

The bill requires applicable occupational boards and the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) to allow licensure by endorsement if applicants meet specified criteria. It also requires applicable health care regulatory boards and the Department of Health (DOH) to issue licenses or certificates to applicants meeting specified conditions. The bill revises licensure by endorsement requirements for acupuncture, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, midwifery, speech-language pathology, audiology, nursing home administration, dietetics, nutrition, electrology, massage therapy, opticianry, physical therapy, psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, and mental health counseling.

Licensure provisions apply to occupational and health care regulatory boards under DBPR and DOH, and affect applicants seeking licensure by reciprocity or endorsement in specified professions.

The bill was in committee as of March 5, 2024, with a committee substitute filed on February 18, 2024; no effective date has been established.
