S0898 — Practice of Veterinary Medicine

Senate Bill 898, filed in February 2025 to revise veterinary medicine licensing and supervision requirements in Florida, died in committee on June 16, 2025.

The bill proposed to revise the definition of 'responsible supervision' and require the Board of Veterinary Medicine to adopt rules regulating veterinary technology practice. It would have required licensure examination applications for veterinary technicians and technologists through the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and authorized licensed veterinary technicians and technologists to perform specified services under a licensed veterinarian's responsible supervision. The bill also proposed to prohibit persons from falsely representing themselves as licensed veterinary technicians or technologists.

Persons seeking licensure as veterinary technicians or technologists, and licensed veterinarians supervising such personnel.

Bill died in the Regulated Industries Committee on June 16, 2025, and did not advance to law.
