S1298, a bill addressing building construction requirements and inspector certifications, died in the Appropriations Committee on Agriculture, Environment, and General Government on June 16, 2025.

The bill would have required the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board to establish internship programs and eligibility criteria for one- and two-family dwelling inspector certifications, authorized owners or agents to sign certain documents personally or virtually, required newly designated qualifying agents to apply for contractor changes within specified timeframes in certain jurisdictions, and revised the threshold contract value for notice of commencement filing requirements.

The bill did not become law; it was indefinitely postponed on May 3, 2025, and died in committee on June 16, 2025.
